ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -Fall is coming around the corner with the Hops and Harvest Festival and there is a lot going on behind the taps. For these brews, it all starts local.“We source all our ingredients for the cider from the farm. We also grow hops on the farm for our beer," said Co-owner of Indian Ladder Farms, Dietrich Gehring. Get the latest news, weather, and sports delivered right to your inbox! The farm first planted their hops three years ago. While New York State ranks second in the country for the number of breweries and distilleries according to Empire State Development, Gehring says this investment is not risk-free. “It can be a little challenging to figure out what to plant and when and what will fall in and out of favor.”And not everything goes to plan. Freezes and floods hit farms hard in Massachusetts and Vermont at different times this year. New York was no exception. Massachusetts farm fatigue due to freeze and flood “We consider ourselves fairly lucky. Some ...

BALTIMORE (AP) — Richie Palacios homered, rookie Drew Rom and four relievers combined on a three-hitter and the St. Louis Cardinals beat Baltimore 1-0 Wednesday night to trim the Orioles' lead in the AL East to two games.Gunnar Henderson's two-out triple off Ryan Helsley in the ninth inning gave the Orioles a chance to pull even, but Aaron Hicks popped out.Baltimore has lost two straight and three of four heading into a four-game series against second-place Tampa Bay beginning Thursday night. The Orioles have been in first place since July 19, in part because their longest losing streak since that time has been two.But Baltimore has scored only two runs in its last two games, not the kind of momentum it was hoping for heading into its most pivotal series this year.In a game dominated by strong pitching and tight defense, Palacios provided the lone run with a solo shot over the right-field scoreboard in the fourth inning off Kyle Gibson (14-9). It was his fourth homer of the season a...

Their margin of error in this new football season already gone, the Broncos are one bad loss away from tanking for the best available quarterback in the 2024 NFL draft.Should Denver be left with little choice but to move on from Russell Wilson before the worst contract in team history even kicks in, we’ve already seen the play that could get him fired.“We’ve got to treat every game as a championship game,” Wilson said Wednesday. While it might be one of those football cliches Wilson tosses more frequently than touchdown passes, in this case, his words are laced with a harsh reality.Only two games deep into his tenure as Denver’s coach, Sean Payton might have to decide if he’s really willing to ride or die with DangeRuss. After a season-opening loss to the Raiders that quickly crushed whatever cautious enthusiasm there might have been in Broncos Country, the insult of losing to Washington and going 0-2 at home against two NFL bottom-feeders would not only dash playoff dreams but ...
