KINGSTON — As fans eagerly gathered outside the doors to the Bog, members of Duxbury girls hockey team proudly strolled past, looking to get back to the ice. Despite the frigid temperatures, most couldn’t wait to cheer on reigning Div. 2 champions as they prepared to take on another juggernaut.So far, the Dragons have lived up to their lofty expectations. Reese Porter, Maddie Greenwood and Maeve Gallagher each potted goals, while Anna McGinty registered 25 saves Saturday to propel Duxbury to a 3-1 victory over archrival Hingham.“I think especially with this being our first home game, we just really wanted to get out there and go from the gun right away in the first five minutes,” Greenwood said. “Give it everything we had, because we’ve been practicing for two to three weeks now. OCALA, Fla. (AP) — A man died in a shooting Saturday at a shopping mall in central Florida in which the victim was apparently “targeted” for the attack, police said. Ocala Police Chief Mike Balken told reporters Saturday evening that the man was killed after he was shot multiple times in a common area at Paddock Mall in Ocala, located about 80 miles northwest of Orlando. A woman was shot in the leg, police said. The suspect fled the scene and left behind the firearm, Balken said.Police responded to the mall around 3:40 p.m. after calls of multiple shots being fire at the mall. “Officers immediately made entry into the mall (and) ultimately discovered that this was not what we would consider an active shooter,” Balken told reporters. SAN DIEGO -- San Diego Police are investigating a suspicious death in Allied Gardens after a family visiting from out-of-town discovered a body in a freezer. The San Diego Police Department responded Friday at 11:45 a.m. to a home in the 4900 block of Zion Ave. for reports of a death. Woman stabbed in San Marcos; suspect arrested Police say out-of-town family members discovered a dead body inside a chest freezer at a home in Allied Gardens and immediately called police. No other details were given at this time about the discovery. EL PASO, Texas (KTSM/NEXSTAR) — A 65-year-old woman from Fort Worth who is being identified as a founding member of The Dixie Chicks was killed and another person was hurt in a head-on collision Friday night, Dec. 22 along U.S. Highway 62 in Hudspeth County, Texas.The woman was identified as Laura Caroline Lynch by the Texas Department of Public Safety. The remaining members of the band, now called simply The Chicks, also confirmed Lynch's death.Lynch was a member of the band from 1990 until 1993. The group consisting of Lynch released three albums before Lynch's departure.
