That’s increasingly the approach of Americans who are in the market for a new job.The share of job seekers who relocated to take up a new position fell to 1.6%, the lowest level on record, in the first quarter of 2023, according to a quarterly survey that’s been carried out by executive coaching firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc. for decades.Behind the shift in attitudes lies a post-pandemic surge in remote and hybrid positions, which has made it possible for more workers to stay where they’re living even as they change jobs. One Twentynine Palms man is behind bars and faces an attempted murder charge after he stabbed another Twentynine Palms man Saturday night.At 9:41 p.m., San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department deputies were flagged down at Sunnyvale Drive and Morongo Road, and they found a 41-year-old man suffering from a stab wound, authorities said in a news release. The alleged assailant was identified as 41-year-old Rudy Garcia, and he was found nearby and arrested.He is being held at the West Valley Detention Center in lieu of $1 million bail. 31-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Crash Near West Avenue NPALMDALE, CA (May 17, 2023) – Thursday night, Jose Marco Gonzalez-Olivares was killed by a hit-and-run driver on 20th Street.Officers responded to the fatal collision around 11:19 p.m. at 20th Street and West Avenue N in the city of Palmdale.Upon arrival, police discovered a man lying in the roadway suffering from serious injuries.According to a witness, a gray Honda Civic with a missing front bumper struck the pedestrian with the front end of their vehicle.However, the driver fled the scene and did not render aid to the victim.Unfortunately, the pedestrian died at the scene. Two-Vehicle Collision near Scott Road Kills 34-Year-Old Perris WomanWINCHESTER, CA (May 17, 2023) – Sunday evening, Yvette Amezcua was killed in a two-vehicle crash on State Route 79.The deadly collision happened around 5:10 p.m. along State Route 79 at the intersection of Scott Road and Washington Street.According to the CHP, a westbound 2020 Nissan Armada crossed the double-painted yellow lines into the eastbound lane. There, the Nissan veered into the path of an eastbound 2020 Jeep Cherokee driven by a 49-year-old Hemet man.Investigators said the Hemet man attempted to avoid the Nissan, but the two vehicles collided head-on. The impact sent both vehicles down a dirt embankment. The occupants of the Nissan, Yvette Amezcua, 34; a Perris boy, 13; and a Murrieta man, 40, were all injured as a result of the crash. Two Pronounced Dead after Auto Accident near Center AvenueMARTINEZ, CA (May 17, 2023) – Late Wednesday night, Diana Zuniga and Jeremiah Smeby were killed in a 2-car collision on Highway 4.Authorities responded to the scene around 10:45 p.m., near Center Avenue on May 10th.Per reports, the driver of a westbound gray Honda Civic crashed into a white Toyota Corolla. As a result, both vehicles lost control and exited the highway before traveling down an embankment.The cars then came to a rest after crashing into two trees. SAN RAMON — Officials at a high school here continue to review their school safety systems and protocol, more than a week after a group of high-school age teens entered the campus and attacked a student.The incident happened May 8 at California High. Officials said the suspects — who were not students at the school — had help getting on campus unnoticed.“We are extremely dismayed that some of our own students allegedly helped the perpetrators enter the Cal High campus without permission,” San Ramon Unified School District spokesperson Tammy Herley said in a statement.
